Julie Jordin
PRINCIPAL
Julie Jordin has been designing landscapes and gardening on Nantucket since 1995. A graduate of Penn State with a BS in Landscape Design and Contracting, Julie is passionate about creating gardens that reflect the client’s personalities and lifestyles. She makes sure that her plant choices are appropriate to the location and to the garden. Julie has documented gardens for the Smithsonian and is a participating member of the Garden Conservancy of America.
Merrill McCluskey
CREATIVE DIRECTOR + MAINTENANCE MANAGER
Merrill McCluskey is a talented stylist with an expansive palette who deftly responds to the aesthetic nuances of our clients. Merrill holds a BA in Sculpture from Wheaton College and has a background in floral design. Merrill feels as though designing 3 dimensional spaces with plants and flowers is the epitome of her interests and passions coming together. Merrill also loves the outdoors, yoga, and her dog, Ozzy.
Merrill has been a member of The Garden Design Co. team since 2013.
Rachel Gilgen
HEAD GROWER + MAINTENANCE MANAGER
Rachel Gilgen makes sure we have the plants we need to make the artistry happen. Rachel holds a BS in Geology from UNC Chapel Hill, and has worked in various labs, greenhouses & farms throughout her career. Rachel loves caring for a variety of plants, working for a woman-owned business & learning to speak Portuguese.
Rachel has been a member of The Garden Design Co. since 2020.
Rie Traub
LANDSCAPE DESIGNER
Rie Traub combines her inherited love of gardens and languages into her role as CAD draftsperson and design collaborator. After landscaping on Nantucket, Rie received her MA in Technical Communications from Northeastern. While working as a tech writer in Boston, she began studying drafting at the Boston Architectural Center after which she returned to Nantucket, working for various firms before finding the perfect niche with The Garden Design Co. She is passionate about travel, teaching, learning Danish, 19th century British literature and native New England plants.
Rie has been a member of The Garden Design Co. team since 2007.
Lindsey Maurer
PROJECT MANAGER
Lindsey Maurer executes our ideas and lends a keen eye to the details. Lindsey holds a BA in Ceramic Sculpture from Lewis and Clark College and has 20+ years of gardening experience on Nantucket. Lindsey is an avid reader, design lover, garden enthusiast and quilter.
Lindsey has been a member of The Garden Design Co. team since 2020.
Camille Botticelli-Pohl
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Camille Botticelli-Pohl leads the administrative side of the office and supports all aspects of The Garden Design Co. Camille holds a BA in history & sociology from Connecticut College and is currently pursuing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. When not in the office or studying, Camille enjoys exploring this beautiful island with her 2 rescue dogs, running, reading at the beach, or otherwise adventuring.
Camille has been a member of The Garden Design Co. team since 2021.
